International Women's Association of Prague (IWAP)
The International Women's Association of Prague (IWAP) is a group of approximately 350 women from over 35 countries. The association is an independent, non-political, non-profit organization, whose purpose is to welcome women in and to the Czech Republic. IWAP promotes friendship among members and acquaints them with local culture by organizing various activities. IWAP is also a member of "Open Door", an international association of 70 groups throughout the world.
IWAP strives to create friendly forums to encourage members to broaden their social circles and to enhance their cultural experiences in Prague through our various organizations and activities. We regularly organize social events for our members and their partners. Our various interest groups include book clubs, bridge, beadwork, golf, photography, sewing, several language conversation groups, tennis, cooking, mah-jong, brunch and numerous other interest groups. Our members range from 20-70+ years old.
Since 1991, when the International Women's Association of Prague was founded, IWAP has provided significant financial and volunteer support to over 100 organizations in the Czech Republic. These include children in orphanages and foster homes; handicapped children homes; a hospice for terminally ill children; breast cancer awareness, prevention, treatment and support of disadvantaged and abused women.
In addition to our many social, educational, civic and charitable activities, we publish a monthly magazine entitled The Bridge. Our magazine is mailed directly to our members and also to the many offices of doctors, dentists and beauty salons frequented by international clientele and business people including hotels, banks, beauty and cosmetics services, bookstores, cafes, fashion ateliers, furniture stores, health services, medical services, relocation services, restaurants, retail stores, interior design services, real estate companies, schools, travel services and many more.
